“Hashim Khan: A Squash Champion’s Story” is a documentary about the unique and beautiful life of a squash legend, currently being produced by filmmaker and squash professional, Josh Easdon. This is the first of a series of updates to this project. We recently visited Hashim’s home in Denver, where we interviewed Hashim and many of his family and friends. We were allowed to film at Hashim’s mosque and learned of the positive impact Hashim has had in his community. |

A Muslim born to a poor family of herdsmen in Peshawar,
Hashim Khan is a champion who changed the sport of squash. More significantly,
like all the greatest champions, Hashim’s excellence on the court
became a passport that allowed him to embark on an eight-decade journey
crossing economic, geographic and generational boundaries and transcending
social, cultural and religious biases. To learn more about Hashim Khan
and this timely production, you can view our trailer at http://www.squashfilms.com.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to tell the story of squash as well as the role of one of its great champions in the formation of a fledgling nation’s identity. Because Hashim’s rise to dominance in squash coincided with Pakistan’s independence, the filming of Hashim’s story is indelibly interwoven with Pakistan’s history. We have already started filming Hashim and have compiled terrific interview footage from several other notable members of the squash community. We expect to film in London and Pakistan in December.
